Getting a mail from Creative Review magazine asking to interview me for a feature was a total surprise – and a total delight! Those that know me will be aware that I spent many-a-year (over ten) in CR's editorial team under the nurturing mentorship of editor Patrick Burgoyne. When I left in 2013 it wasn't because I'd fallen out of love with all that CR does but rather because I felt inadequate in a relentless world of journalism that had changed beyond recognition in the 12 years I'd been a journalist. I'd got to a point where I knew that what made me tick was collaborating on long form projects – like writing or editing books, or working with illustrators to conjure up and create products. I suppose my decision to leave came down to a desire to be doing the kind of creative projects that might actually be of interest to CR's editorial team – rather than one of the guys writing about them.
So, yes, Creative Review's March 2017 "Food Issue" features an 8-page piece on me and my various burger-filled adventures since starting up this here blog back in 2011. Needless to say, I'm super-chuffed, not least because the piece serves as a great showcase for some of the work created for / with me by a host of brilliant collaborators, namely illustrators Jon Boam, Rob Flowers and Damian Weighill; design duo Crispin Finn; app publisher Blue Crow Media, and publisher Nobrow.
