£8.50 Spicy fried chicken breast fillet in a seeded bun with mayo, barbecue sauce and shredded lettuce. What's not to love!?
A Lucky Chip fried chicken pop-up could only ever be called one thing: Lucky Fried Chicken. I'm pretty damn late posting about it but thought that if you haven't been, you should go along to LFC's last day of trading tomorrow (Saturday 9th March)...
LFC is in a rather lovely room above the Grafton
pub just yards from Kentish Town West Station. Fried chicken is the name of the game and it's pretty frickin' good! Here's some pics of the Jumbo Box (5 pieces of fried chicken creamed potatoes with gravy, coleslaw and some funny little bread rolls.
The chicken was gloriously juicy and the coating was delicious although it was pretty spicy. Probably too peppery to suit everyone's taste. Still, it was bang on the money for me!
I felt duty-bound to chickeddy-check out the Bar-B-Q Chicken Sandwich given it was the closest thing to a burger I could have. It was an absolute belter - like a super-high quality version, if I may be permitted to speak in KFC parlance, of a Zinger Fillet burger. ZING!
Although LFC is closing, Lucky Chip's Ben Denner tells me he'll be conjuring up new pop-up menus for the space going forward. In fact, he's cooked up a special Mothers Day menu for this Sunday which looks awesome (despite there not being a burger in sight). It's more of a Sunday Lunch affair. Check out the menu here
Ben also assures me that I haven't seen the last of the Bar-B-Q Chicken Sandwich. Happy face! Apparently it will crop up from time to time as a Lucky Chip special but with new name: The Goldie Hawn. Keep a sharp eye!
